Microwave Food Processing Systems Preserve Food Nutrients, Taste
Denver, CO, February 22, 2017 — Moses A. Magana has joined 915 Labs as Director of Process Innovation, expanding the company’s technical expertise in next generation food processing technology.
915 Labs offers a new and improved method for processing and packaging foods and beverages called Microwave Assisted Thermal Sterilization (MATS™). MATS delivers a healthier way to sterilize food by reducing exposure to high heat, which preserves nutrients, texture and taste and eliminates the need for artificial additives and excess sodium.
Magana, a specialist in thermal processing technology, brings 12 years of domestic and international food industry experience to 915 Labs, where he is overseeing the design, manufacturing and installation of MATS systems around the world.
“Moses brings a wealth of engineering and thermal processing knowledge to 915 Labs,” said Lora Spizzirri, VP of Research and Development. “We look forward to Moses applying his experience and expertise as we continue to innovate with the MATS process.”
Magana was most recently senior process engineer at the technology center of Hill’s Pet Nutrition, where he led the transition from GMO ingredients to non-GMO formulations and other product enhancements. As R&D Technical Manager at Global Food Services Corporation in El Salvador, Magana implemented new technologies and processes that reduced energy costs and waste and led the development of new ethnic product lines in the United States.
For Custom Food Processing Services, Magana designed and commissioned an experimental food lab where he led a team of R&D professionals in developing new shelf-stable products for the export market, including three award-winning products that achieved 1.2 MM in sales in the first six months.
Magana earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering/food technology and processing from the Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in La Libertad, El Salvador.
