Michael Locatis is co-founder, CEO and board member of 915 Labs responsible for vision, corporate strategy and market and partnership development. He also leads the company’s marketing, global sales, business development and capitalization efforts.
Mike has been a successful entrepreneur, co-founding several high-tech start-ups and rewarding shareholders by leading each company to strategic acquisition. With each startup, Mike built high-performance, transformative cross-functional teams and guided the companies through high-growth, successful venture capital rounds, M&A and for one, an IPO.
In 2010, Mike was tapped by President Obama to serve in two successive national security policy roles as Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy and the Department of Homeland Security. As a member of the White House interagency committee charged with developing Presidential Policy Directive 21, he helped craft national policy to secure the nation’s critical infrastructures, including food and agriculture.
An outspoken advocate for food security and sustainability, particularly in the area of nutritional impact on early childhood development, Mike recently joined the board of directors for Hunger Free Colorado, a statewide nonprofit that connects individuals and families to food resources and fuels change in systems, policies and social views so that no Coloradoan experiences goes without food.
Mike has served as senior advisor for the consulting firms Deloitte, Grayling, Nexusist and most recently, the Chertoff Group. He also serves the board of the Colorado Technology Association.
